Question: If you don't use their cloud feature and opt out of paying $3 per month, specifically, what functionality do you lose?
Answer: I just checked with their support. It looks like no storage of any kind without cloud. Just video of when you answer which apparently cannot be saved without cloud subscription. Unless you figure out how to capture that while recording and save on your phone's memory. I thought it was decently priced until I found about this limitation.
Question: Does this door bell have an indoor chime also? What if Im home and my phone is not on?
Answer: it has only an outdoor bell which you may or may not hear from inside. however, all you need to do is connect the 2 terminals of your current doorbell button to the Ring device and it will ring your current indoor bell as well. if you have one.
Question: Does it have a doorbell function that you can hear from inside the house or do you have to carry your phone around everywhere?
Answer: If you wire it up where your existing door bell was, it will ring a traditional (wired) door bell inside the house. If you do not have it connected through wiring, only the unit and your mobile devices will ring. They do have the Ring Chime, which is a wireless unit that you plug in inside your house that works with the door bell if you want more of a traditional system without the wiring. I haven't seen it on amazon yet, but it is on Ring's website (https://ring.com/chime)
Question: How many telephone devices can connect to and how does it connect to your existing door bell
Answer: Everyone else is correct about multiple devices and connection.
However I am running into an issue and could use some advice. I have connected my Ring to two phones and one tablet (all android.)
When we ring the Ring, all phones are able to connect. that's not a big deal. However, after the call is done, we then have to go around to each device and "end" the call or the Ring stays in broadcasting mode (purple spiraling lights)
This is also a problem if ANY device is not used (for example if I happen to just open the door and not use the app) I still have to log into all three devices and "end" the call. Not convenient when everyone insists on having a passworded phone.
